Coming In the audio world, there aren’t many low-cost high-quality film caps. Some of the ones commonly available are a little edgy sounding, add sssh, and sing along with the music due to loose windings, voids or poor quality films, etc. When we were sourcing parts for the LD91 project we had a difficult time finding reasonably priced large value caps for the WE connection. At 2004 Electronica Asia Brian Cherry met a rep from the 5th largest cap manufacturer in Asia. A view of the factory showed new production machinery from Italy and Germany in a spotlessly clean environment. The company was sympathetic to our audio cap issues. Samples were made with extra tight winding, no voids, and thick-coated aluminum film imported from Germany. Then our first Obbligato capacitor was born.
